In cooperation with Needs Map and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality; A map-based platform has been created to bring together supporters and those in need whose homes were damaged or destroyed due to the earthquake that occurred in Izmir on October 30, 2020. The disaster also caused difficulties for people who became homeless/had to leave their homes due to cold weather conditions.

The aim is to accelerate the exit of those in need who were affected by the earthquake from irregular living spaces such as tents or containers and to enable them to settle into their homes as soon as possible.

With the donations to be collected through the ‘’Bir Kira Bir Yuva’’ Platform, it was aimed to contribute to the solution of the sheltering problem for people affected by the earthquakes that took place on February 6, 2023. In total since the first day of the earthquake on February 6, approx. 413 million TRY was collected and the shelter needs of 30.934 people were met.

Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:

Needs Map took part in the technical part of the project; was responsible for the creation of the website and the works related to the site. The services provided by Needs Map were as follows:

• To submit the “I Want My Home to Be Used” consent forms for people who want to open their homes to earthquake victims and to get their approval,
• Forms have been prepared for individuals whose homes have been damaged or destroyed due to the earthquake. 
• A crowd-sourcing application has been developed to meet the needs of individuals. 
• Data has been organised and approved by an editor using the created geospatial database. 
• A map system has been developed on the Izmir Earthquake Portal, featuring layers such as gathering areas. 
• Web applications have been developed using open-source resources and collected data. Dashboards displaying the collected support and operations have been prepared and publicly released.
