The project supports both the people in need and the local economy by facilitating a system allowing to meet vulnerable families’ basic needs for food and hygiene materials from local businesses which are both adversely affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. In an 8-month period, the project covered 20 provinces and helped those who are economically affected by COVID-19 pandemic by introducing a Social Marketplace module. The module hence enables those who want to contribute the society by supporting the emergency needs of families through shopping from local businesses, mostly MSMEs, in a way that supporting their financial survival in the times of pandemic.
The project aims to identify the vital needs of the vulnerable families who are adversely affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, to map those identified needs by uploading the data obtained from field visits to Needs Map platform in the 20 province and also identify and map local businesses that produce and/or sell food and hygiene materials to meet those needs and integrate the businesses into the Needs Map Social Marketplace as vendors. Within the scope of project, which started as a pilot in 10 provinces and implemented as a total of 20 provinces:
-The vital needs of families adversely affected by the COVID-19 epidemic were determined.
-With the field visits made in 20 provinces, the information of the people in need and local businesses were uploaded to the platform.
-The needs of 8137 families were covered by purchases from local businesses.
-All the works carried out with this movement were mapped with Needs Map technical infrastructure.
